Board of Trustees
Mountain Pathways is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, and one of the requirements of this status is the maintenance of a Board of Trustees to oversee the direction and operation of the School.
How the Board Works
The Board consists of 12 members: the officers, the committee chairs, the faculty representatives, and the Director (non-voting member). These positions are filled by parents in advance of each school year, voted by the Corporation - which is the staff and families at MPS.
Terms are held for two years (except for Chair-Elect), and the Board meets monthly in the evening. Parents are encouraged to stay involved with at least one committee if they are not already serving on the Board.
All MPS parents are invited to attend board meetings and to contact parent representatives, the director, or any board members at any time.

The By-Laws for Mountain Pathways
The purpose of our by-laws is to establish direction and clarity for the internal rules and operating procedures for our school. We have worked hard to create and uphold a document that establishes how the organization will be governed, clarifies roles and responsibilities, and ensures consistent decision-making for staff and families; which make up our Corporation. Bylaws are essential for maintaining order, preventing disputes, and ensuring the organization can operate effectively and legally.

Parent Committees
Mountain Pathways is a community of families working together to further the education of all our children. We want to guide these children toward the betterment of their lives and the world at large. The help of everyone is needed, and we ask our parents to take part by serving on one of our committees throughout the year.
Personnel Committee
This committee provides a neutral, confidential, forum for all personnel matters, assists the Director with hiring of full time staff, and serves as an advocate for the MPS faculty and staff.
Finance Committee
Lead by the Treasurer, the Finance Committee provides for the short and long term financial stability of the School, including long-term treatment of: Tuition, Budget and Expenditures, and Financial Aid. The committee, with the Director, annually reviews the School’s insurance policies. The committee authorizes and reviews a yearly audit of the School’s financial position by certified public accountants and this review is presented to the Board.
Development Committee
The development committee designs strategies and coordinates all activities—and provide strategic direction to the Director—for all fundraising and development activities, including campaigns, grant-writing, individual and corporate donations, and other mechanisms.
