Board of Trustees
Mountain Pathways is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, and one of the requirements of this status is the maintenance of a Board of Trustees to oversee the direction and operation of the School.
How the Board Works
The Board consists of the Executive Committee, the committee chairs, at-large members, the teacher representative, and the Director (a non-voting member). These positions are filled by parents and community members in advance of each school year, and are voted in by staff and families at the Spring Corporation Meeting.
Terms are held for one year, and the Board meets monthly. All MPS parents are invited to attend board meetings and to contact the Director or any board members at any time.
Questions for the Board?
The By-Laws of Mountain Pathways
The purpose of our by-laws is to establish direction and clarity for the internal rules and operating procedures for our school. We have worked hard to create and uphold a document that establishes how the organization will be governed, clarifies roles and responsibilities, and ensures consistent decision-making for staff and families; which make up our Corporation. Bylaws are essential for maintaining order, preventing disputes, and ensuring the organization can operate effectively and legally.

Parent Committees
If parents are not already serving on the Board, they are encouraged to join a committee. Current committees include the Parent-Teacher Appreciation Committee, the Development Committee, and the Property Grounds Committee. The help of everyone is needed, and we ask our parents to take part by serving on one of our committees throughout the year.
Parent-Teacher Appreciation Committee
One member of the Parent-Teacher Appreciation Committee represents each MPS classroom to ensure its teachers’ needs are being quickly identified and addressed. The Committee Chair also works with the Board Chair to schedule each year’s social and fundraising events.
Property Grounds Committee
Members of this committee provide for the recovery and growth of the school. This committee shall assist the trustees in maintaining and improving the physical state of Mountain Pathways.
Development Committee
This committee is working to develop donor engagement, financial stewardship, and future resource development efforts. Members of this committee solicit and coordinate in-kind donations for fundraising events, and have also created a scholarship and tuition assistance fund so that Mountain Pathways can serve the early childcare needs of community members from all walks of life, regardless of ability to pay.
